Sea turtle dies in Brazil after being entangled in plastic bag
A pensioner came across a sea turtle with a plastic bag wrapped around its neck in Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Tuesday. He jumped into the sea to rescue it, only to find it dead. Biologists said the turtle was most likely suffocated by the plastic bag. According to the United Nations Environment Program, 11 million tons of plastic waste enters the oceans every year, and thousands of Marine mammals die from eating or becoming trapped in plastic waste.
