"Supercomputers are important tools for a great country and an innovation engine for the Greater Bay Area. In the past, if Hong Kong researchers needed supercomputers, they had to copy the data to a hard drive and then send it to the mainland manually, which often took a week or even longer." Gao Min said that the Nansha Branch of the National Supercomputing Guangzhou Center operated by the Institute has opened a dedicated network line to Hong Kong, making it as convenient to use supercomputers in Hong Kong as in the mainland. At present, the Nansha Branch has served more than 200 scientific research user teams in Hong Kong, Macao and overseas, and the total number of supercomputer resources used exceeds 240 million core hours.

The important change in his life happened in 2006. That year, he chose to study at Jinan University, "The tuition fees in the mainland are cheap, and I also want to come to the mainland to have a look."
