Supermarkets are prohibited from using non-degradable plastic bags
The Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the provincial Department of Ecology and Environment issued a guideline to prohibit the use of non-biodegradable plastic bags in shopping malls, supermarkets, pharmacies, bookstores and other places in urban built-up areas of Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as food and beverage delivery services and various exhibitions. The guidelines will come into effect on Sept 1. In addition to non-biodegradable plastic bags, disposable plastic tableware is also banned.
