The General Administration of Customs announced the monitoring results of quality and safety risks
Recently, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) organized 19 customs directly under the administration of China to carry out quality and safety risk monitoring of cross-border e-commerce imports of consumer goods in 2021, including 13 categories of cross-border e-commerce imports of consumer goods, such as toothbrushes, clothing, baby products and household appliances. A total of 562 batches were sampled in this monitoring, of which 55 batches did not meet the quality and safety requirements of Chinese product standards, with a risk detection rate of 9.79%.
After risk assessment, 11 batches of quality safety risk was high or medium high risk. The main risk items include the grinding of toothbrushes, specifications and sizes, the cord of baby clothing, the tensile strength of accessories, the sharp edge and tip of the trolley, the small parts of toys, the thickness of plastic bags, instructions for use, the particulate matter filtration efficiency, breaking strength, appearance quality of children's masks, the protection against electric shock of hair dryers, plugs, power cords, signs and so on.
In accordance with the requirements of laws and regulations, the Customs has urged relevant cross-border e-commerce enterprises to implement risk reduction measures such as removal, technical rectification, return or destruction of consumer goods with quality and safety risks.
In recent years, in response to the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce, the Customs has earnestly performed its duties, set up cross-border e-commerce import and export commodity quality safety risk monitoring points and assessment centers, strengthen risk monitoring, assessment, disposal and application of results, effectively protect the rights and interests of consumers, and promote the healthy and orderly development of cross-border e-commerce. Here, the customs reminds the majority of consumers to do "three concerns" when purchasing consumer goods through cross-border e-commerce:
First, pay attention to the sign description. Cross-border e-commerce imported consumer goods signs and instructions generally do not use Chinese, before purchase or use it is recommended to understand the prompt information through the sales page in detail, to avoid health damage caused by improper use and other reasons.
Second, pay attention to key items. For example, when purchasing a toothbrush, it is recommended to choose soft bristles and rounded bristles at the top and head of the brush; When purchasing baby clothing, it is recommended to choose light colors, cordless straps, and check whether buttons and decorative accessories are firm; When purchasing toys and carts, it is recommended to pay attention to small parts, gaps and sharp edges; When purchasing household appliances, it is recommended to pay attention to the working voltage and plug type, and to be equipped with transformers and conversion plugs if necessary.
The third is to pay attention to after-sales protection. It is recommended that consumers fully understand the relevant provisions on after-sales service of cross-border e-commerce platforms when purchasing imported consumer goods, so as to avoid unnecessary losses.
