The State Oceanic Administration of China announced in Beijing on the 6th that the total voyage of China's 49th ocean scientific expedition is expected to exceed 25,000 nautical miles and last 250 days. A total of 272 people from 41 organizations, including the Second Institute of Oceanography of the State Oceanic Administration, Zhejiang Taihe Shipping Co., Ltd. and the North Sea Branch of the State Oceanic Administration, will take part in the expedition, including 209 scientists and engineers and 63 ocean-going sailors.
The purpose of this voyage is to implement the operational work in the deep ocean field and the "Dragon Sea exploration" project, and implement the "13th Five-Year Plan" for the exploration and development of Deep Sea resources. It has the characteristics of comprehensive operation, equal emphasis on resources and environment, highly refined investigation methods and aiming at international Marine hot spots. In order to strengthen the relevance of research on Marine system science and meet the different investigation and scientific research needs of different departments and disciplines in the Indian Ocean region, after more than a year of demonstration and design, the scientific investigation of this voyage covers almost all disciplines of ocean research.
China's 49th Ocean voyage scientific survey plan is divided into 5 segments, the first four segments are planned for 200 days, the main work area is the southwest Indian Ocean polymetallic sulfide contract area and shipping route; The fifth voyage is planned for 50 days, and the main work area is the Northwest Indian Ocean polymetallic sulfide survey area and shipping route.
The survey tasks of this voyage include exploration of polymetallic sulfide resources in the contract area of the Southwest Indian Ocean, investigation of polymetallic sulfide resources in the Northwest Indian Ocean Survey Area, sampling and investigation of biological genetic resources in the hydrothermal area of the Indian Ocean, investigation of microplastic pollution, hypoxia and ocean acidification in the Indian Ocean.
"Qianlong 2" is China's independent research and development of 4500 meters of deep-sea resources independent exploration equipment, has successfully completed the Chinese ocean 40 voyages and 43 voyages survey tasks. In the second and third sections of this voyage, Qianlong 2 will carry out diving operations in more than a dozen survey blocks, and complete microtopography and geomorphology detection of 300 square kilometers.
According to the plan, the ship Xiangyanghong 10 will complete all the survey tasks and return to Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province on August 12, 2018. (Finished)
