Cold feed rubber extruders are widely used in my country's rubber industry. In the production of radial tires, annular grooves are opened on the three corresponding spiral parts of tread extrusion, composite tread extrusion, corner rubber and various profile rubbers. Pins are directly inserted into these annular grooves, and the rubber material moves horizontally, flows and rotates under the action of these pins. Due to the combined effect of these three forms of movement, the core formed during the rubber extrusion process can be effectively destroyed. Whenever this core passes through the pin, it will be sheared once. Every time the spiral rotates one circle, the rubber material will be divided and sheared by a handful of pins, which strengthens the kneading and accelerates the flow of the rubber material in the screw thread groove, so that high-quality mixed, kneaded and plasticized rubber can be obtained.
Due to the insertion of the pin, the mixing, kneading and plasticizing capabilities are enhanced. Under the same extrusion conditions, the working length of the screw can be shortened by 2D-4 compared with the ordinary cold feed extruder. Due to the smaller aspect ratio, the time the material stays in the barrel is shortened. Almost all extruders that produce rubber compounds use pin-type cold feed rubber extruders. In the production of bias tires, it has been a general trend in recent years to replace hot feed extruders with pin-type cold feed rubber extruders, and the development is relatively fast. For example, many manufacturers use pin-type cold feed rubber extruders for tread composite extrusion, various apex rubbers, and various types of rubber. In the production of hoses, pin-type cold feed rubber extruders are also used for inner rubber extrusion and outer rubber extrusion.
The work is divided into four stages: in the first stage, the machine must accept the feed material, convey and compact the rubber compound; in the second stage, the rubber compound must be heated and plasticized to make it a more flowable block; in the third stage, the extruder must mix and heat homogenize the rubber compound; in the fourth stage, pressure must be established to force the rubber compound through the die. For hot feed extruders, the second and third stages are provided by preheated open mills.
