Beijing Chemical Research Institute, Shanxi Chemical Research Institute, etc. were the first to engage in the research of PVC processing aids in China. Shanghai Coral Chemical Plant first realized industrialized production in the early 1980s, and the brands launched were collectively called ACR201 and ACR401 in China. In the late 1990s, with the development of China's polyvinyl chloride industry, especially the rapid development of plastic profiles and plastic pipe industries, the demand for processing aids has also increased rapidly. At present, Shandong ranks first in production, followed by Jiangsu and Zhejiang. According to incomplete statistics, in 2005, the country produced about 50,000 tons of various PVC processing aids, of which Shandong Province accounted for more than 70% of the total national production of additives.
Major manufacturers in China
China's research on impact-resistant MBS began in the late 1980s, and it was not until the mid-1990s that industrial production was achieved in Qilu Petrochemical and Shanghai Pen Factory. After more than a decade of development, there are now more than a dozen factories producing MBS, with an annual production capacity of 40,000 tons and an actual output of 20,000 tons. At present, the product quality of China's MBS, especially the stability of the product, is far behind that of foreign products. The annual import volume is much larger than the domestic volume. In 2005, the import volume was about 55,000 tons.

It is worth mentioning that Shandong Ruifeng's LS series impact modifiers were the first to achieve industrialized production in China. The current plant capacity has reached 10,000 tons. Its main brands are LS-21, 21, 51, 61, 50. Among them, the impact modifier LS-50 was launched on the market in early 2006. The product performance has reached the level of similar foreign products and has been exported to South Korea, Turkey, India, the United States and other countries.
Problems in the development of impact modifiers
Because MBS is affected by foreign technical barriers and impact ACR is affected by the low-priced CPE impact modifier, China's MBS and impact ACR have developed slowly, especially MBS resin, which has a large gap compared with foreign products. How to achieve technological breakthroughs and meet the challenges of foreign peers is a difficult problem facing impact modifier processing companies.
