A two-color mold is a mold that uses two plastic materials to be molded on the same injection molding machine, and is molded twice, but the product is only ejected once. This molding process is generally called double-material injection molding, which is usually completed by a set of molds and requires a special two-color injection molding machine.
Two-color molds are becoming increasingly popular in the market. This process can make the product look more beautiful, easy to change colors without spraying, but it is expensive and requires high technical requirements.
Plastic products that use two different types of plastics and can be clearly distinguished on the product are called two-color products. A mold that is installed on the same injection molding machine with two sets of injection molding devices (i.e., a two-color injection molding machine) and injects two plastics in sequence to produce a two-color product is called a two-color mold.
Two-color injection molding machines are usually of two types, parallel injection molding machines and vertical injection molding machines.
1. Parallel type
The injection screws are arranged in parallel and can act independently or simultaneously. There are two sets of independently acting ejector mechanisms as shown in the figure below.
2. Vertical type
The injection screws are arranged vertically in a plane, as shown in the figure below. They can also act independently or simultaneously, but there is only one set of ejector mechanisms.
Two-color molds can be divided into: core rotation type, core retreat type, and push plate rotation type according to their structure. Among them, the core rotation type can be divided into two types: split type and one-piece type. The so-called split type uses two pairs of molds installed on an injection molding machine to complete the injection molding of two-color products. The one-piece type is to complete the injection molding of two-color products in one mold. Among them, the core rotation split type is more widely used.
1. The two shapes of the female mold are different, each molding one product, while the two shapes of the male mold are exactly the same.
2. The front and rear molds of the mold must match after rotating 180бу around the center. This inspection must be done during design, and this point has high requirements for mold frame positioning processing.
3. The total thickness of the front mold panel plus the A plate cannot be less than 170mm. Please carefully check other reference data of this type of injection molding machine, such as the maximum mold thickness, minimum mold thickness, KO hole distance, etc.
