Unsaturated polyester resin is a thermosetting plastic.

Unsaturated polyester resin products have the advantages of high strength, low specific gravity, corrosion resistance, good insulation performance and can be processed and formed at room temperature and pressure. They are widely used in industrial production. Unsaturated polyester resin is also a solvent-free paint. Its paint film is hard, bright, paint-proof, aging-resistant, corrosion-resistant, and high (low) temperature-resistant. It is generally used to paint sewing machine tables, TV and radio shells, piano shells and various wooden furniture paints.

Common methods

There are many specifications and brands of unsaturated polyester resin paints. When processing wood surfaces, No. 191 and No. 182 are generally used in combination, or No. 191 is used alone, or unsaturated polyester resin wood varnish is used. The paint film of unsaturated polyester resin must be sealed and cured with polyester film, or sealed and cured with paraffin wax.

Anaerobic unsaturated polyester resin paint

Composition: This paint is composed of 4 components. Component 1 is unsaturated polyester resin and active diluent, component 2 is initiator (cyclohexanone peroxide), component 3 is accelerator (cobalt cyclohexane acid), and component 4 is wax liquid, which is mainly used as wood paint.

Performance and use: This paint has a thick coating film, is solvent-free, has a full and bright paint film, high hardness, and is heat-resistant, cold-resistant, wear-resistant and solvent-resistant. It is mainly used as a decorative protective coating for wooden articles such as pianos, wooden furniture, instrument wooden shells, and sewing machine tables.

Construction and supporting requirements: The paint is packaged in four cans, and the use ratio is: polyester paint 100g; initiator cyclohexanone peroxide (white water) 4~6g; accelerator cobalt cyclohexane acid 2~3g (blue water); wax liquid 1~2g; active diluent styrene 10~30g to adjust the construction viscosity, which can vary with the viscosity of the original paint and the temperature. The four components must be mixed and fully stirred before construction. It can be sprayed or rolled. The coating needs to be dried and cured under air-tight conditions. If wax liquid is not used, it can be covered with polyester film or glass. After it is completely cured, the film or glass can be removed to obtain a flat and smooth coating. Wax sealing is usually the main method, and polyester film is often used to isolate oxygen on flat sheets of stickers or plastics. After the resin is dried, the film surface of the wax seal needs to be polished.
