Beijing, October 13 news (reporter Ma Zhe) According to the Voice of China "News" report, open today's news map.
Beijing West Fifth Ring Road Green Valley Yayuan community is a tree-lined, should be a pleasant place to live, but the residents here in the last two or three years are suffering from a foul smell, just this past summer, even dare not open the window, and the culprit of all this is the open-air garbage dump separated from the wall of the community.
Ms. Li: And it seems that the coil or something has been burned, and the smell is like a gas leak.
Ms. Li's family lives in the southwest corner of the community. Because they have just had a baby, Ms. Li's family hates this pungent sexual stench even more.
Ms. Li: In confinement, the air needs to be circulated, and we dare not open the window. At that time, this toxic gas would be burned every evening. If you want to breathe fresh air, you can't do it here in Badaku or in the forest park.
What is the root cause of the foul smell? The reporter came to the southwest corner of the community and saw a regular closed garbage transfer station. And next to it, it is an open-air garbage dump with lime smeared around it, five or six meters square. The worker dumping the waste inside said that the capacity of the enclosed waste was limited and that excess waste would be temporarily stored in the open, but he denied burning the waste on site.
Staff: These are all from our village, and they will be dumped today and taken away today.
Reporter: Have you burned anything?
Staff: No, no, no.
Why do the residents of the community smell burning? The reporter found at the scene, in addition to the garbage transfer station, there are many people next to the community to recycle waste products for the industry, all kinds of wires, plastic bottles, waste electrical appliances are stacked together. Although the reporter did not see incineration at the scene, there are traces of black carbon-like incineration on the ground. Residents who have seen garbage incineration:
Resident: There is a lot of smoke, sometimes it is very big fire, burning garbage to get a little copper and these things.
According to local residents, people in the recycling industry burn other materials directly in order to obtain valuable metals, which causes the stench. This has been going on for two or three years. The continuous open burning of garbage will eventually damage not only the local residents, but also the entire atmosphere in Beijing.
