Davis Standard Innovation in high-growth markets in Asia
As 2019 approaches, Davis-Standard will continue to focus on the high-growth Asian market. The Asian market continues to grow rapidly, and Davis-Standard's high volume technology has enabled the company to become a major equipment supplier in the region, especially in medical and packaging applications.
Davis-Standard has a manufacturing presence in the Asia Pacific region, and the company is constantly exploring opportunities in aftermarket, equipment upgrades and production line optimization. Specific markets include China, India, Korea, Taiwan and the emerging Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) markets.
Davis Standard (Suzhou) Plastic Packaging Machinery Co., Ltd. continues to be at the heart of the company's regional growth in Asia. Developments in machine manufacturing and assembly, inventory and after-sales service, field service engineering and installation of equipment at customer plants have become the focus of support for customers.
Suzhou also has the research and development capability of testing soft package products as well as IV and liquid conveying FPVC pipes. Application examples include microporous tubes, multi-cavity tubes, endotracheal tubes and tracheotomy tubes, bubble tubes, conical tubes, etc. This includes the Davis standard MEDD(motor direct Drive for medical applications) extruder, which is designed to be compact, energy efficient and used in a wide range of materials, especially for applications with tight dimensional tolerances. Other benefits of
MEDD include linear mobility, feed barrel bushing replacement space, interchangeable barrel assemblies, and Windows® based; Control system.
In terms of development, Davis-Standard has recently introduced the dsX flex-packTM 300S. This single-station extrusion line is being developed by Davis Standard's teams in the US, Germany and China and is specifically designed for the Asian soft bag market.
With a process output rate of 300 meters per minute, the unit is able to meet the needs of price, machine space, speed, yield and fast response inverters. Davis Standard plans to offer a two-station tandem configuration of this line, called the dsX flex-packTM 300T.
Davis - Standard's new stretched film line and DS S3 winder are equally suitable for the soft pack market in Asia. Quality control, versatility and efficiency are the three main features of the technology. The line offers a compact machine arrangement, ease of maintenance, excellent product shape and size control, rollers with consistent quality and an intuitive control scheme.
It is capable of high speed production of 31-51 knots (7.8µ -3µ) Thin film between. Davis - Standard side-by-side DS S3 overlapping winders are essential for this capability. It provides maximum slit widths for manual packaging, machine packaging and giant rolls, and a single winder can cut multiple products of different widths to suit market segments. The film is discharged from the front end of the line to the common side to simplify finished roll packaging and further automation.
Coil cores are also loaded from the same side, the back side of the coiler, thus reducing interference with the packaging process. At the same time, the equipment is equipped with an auxiliary winding roller, which minimizes the waste generated during the transfer process of the top winding and the waste generated during the transfer process of the finished coil external winding, while optimizing the quality of the product coil. All these features contribute to a high level of film handling.
The company's significant mergers and acquisitions have similarly helped support Asian customers. Taking wire, cable, pipe and tube equipment to a global level through the acquisition of McRaphael in 2017, it complements FPVC medical tubing and co-extrusion in Suzhou. These include piping and ducting technologies for automation, heating, flushing, medical, microducting, offshore and custom production lines. The company recently acquired Binton Engineering in 2018 to further support regional infrastructure for thin-film applications.
Finally, Davis Standard is committed to supporting customers in Asia with smart factory solutions across the entire product line. A centralized control system enables processors to connect and communicate synchronously with multiple production lines and Davis Standard personnel. This includes remote access to device sensors to gather information to facilitate troubleshooting and maintenance. Utilizing remote teams for line optimization, this technical support is an important part of this capability.
