Nine years after the ¡°Plastic Ban¡±, plastic bags are still everywhere
China has implemented the "plastic restriction order" since June 1, 2008: "The production, sale and use of plastic shopping bags with a thickness of less than 0.025 mm is prohibited within China"; "The system of paid use of plastic shopping bags shall be implemented in all supermarkets, shopping malls, market markets and other commodity retail places, and plastic shopping bags shall not be provided for free". However, nine years later, ultra-thin, free plastic shopping bags are still popular, repeated prohibitions.
