Plastic waste is everywhere

In addition to the ocean floor, plastic waste can be found in many unexpected places.

Perhaps the most widespread distribution of plastic waste is the ocean, and even many of the once beautiful diving sites are not immune. It's hard to imagine that this sea of trash, located off the Caribbean island of Roatan, was once a paradise for divers. Last year, a British photographer who happened to be snorkeling captured the devastation on camera. The photographer said their boat had driven about eight kilometers across the sea of trash. Everywhere they went, there were plastic bags of various sizes, plastic forks, plastic bottles, etc., which made people "crash".

And due to the action of ocean currents, an island of garbage has appeared in the North Pacific Ocean. This "garbage island" is known to be larger than the U.S. state of Texas.

Ocean currents carry trash not only to the North Pacific, but also to the North Pole. The Arctic, considered by many to be a pristine, uninhabited place, is now littered with trash from all over the world. This garbage, with the exception of discarded fishing nets, is mostly plastic.

In addition to the deepest oceans, plastic waste also appears on the highest mountains. Along the route to Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, trash discarded by climbers can be seen everywhere. China and Nepal organize annual cleanings on the north and south slopes of Qomolangma, which involve removing hundreds of tons of garbage, including large amounts of plastic packaging.

Anyone who thinks that plastic waste is only found on Earth is not imaginative enough. In space, where the vast majority of humans have not set foot, plastic waste is still found. According to statistics, the number of space garbage in the universe has already exceeded 100 million pieces, and the source of these garbage is mainly various types of spacecraft debris, in addition to some metal, basically are plastic products. The speed of these space junk is as high as 40,000 kilometers per hour. If it hits a satellite or spacecraft, the consequences can be catastrophic.
