Shocking amounts of microplastics found in marine animals in Brazil
Underwater research by biologists in Brazil has revealed surprising amounts of microplastics in local Marine wildlife. Even sea urchins sampled in the so-called "Stronghold of Hope" in the Carajas archipelago were found to contain microplastics, researchers said. Microplastics are tiny particles created during the disintegration of larger pieces of plastic. When they get into the ocean, they end up in fish and other Marine life, where they can't be digested and can be a serious health hazard.
