Sprite will no longer use green plastic bottles after more than 60 years of history
Beijing, July 28, according to the United States CNN (CNN) reported, Coca-Cola local time 27 said that since August 1, Sprite will change the green plastic bottle packaging to transparent packaging, thus ending the green bottle more than 60 years of history.
reported that Coca-Cola said that the current bottle contains green polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that can not be recycled, and the use of transparent bottles can reduce plastic waste.
Julian Ochoa, CEO of plastics group R3CYCLE, said clear plastic bottles can be made into new bottles and help drive a circular economy for plastics.
The company also said that a new logo and packaging design will also appear on Sprite bottles at that time, aiming to "provide a more consistent look and sound around the world", and that green tones will still be used on Sprite labels.
