Polyethylene foam is made of polyethylene resin as the main body, with foaming agent, cross-linking agent and other additives. It is a very important cushioning material. It has the advantages of low density, which can reach as low as 0.01/cm3; low cushioning, heat resistance and water absorption; stable chemical properties, not easy to be corroded; good mechanical properties, toughness, flexibility and friction resistance; good processing performance and easy molding; relatively cheap price.
Polyethylene foam is widely used in cushioning packaging of precision instruments, household appliances, glass and ceramic products, handicrafts, valuables, etc.; it can be made into cushioning pads as packaging lining materials; it can also be made into packaging containers such as cushioning bags and cushioning boxes; it can also be made into insulated containers for frozen and hot foods.
Because of its good chemical resistance, polyethylene foam directly contacts the goods during packaging, and the goods will not rust or corrode, so the packaging volume and the floor space of the goods can be reduced, and the handling cost and storage cost are reduced.
Most of the highly foamed polyethylene has a closed-cell structure and does not absorb moisture. The goods packaged with it will not be eroded by wind and rain even if they are placed outdoors: the cushioning performance of the foam plastic itself will not be weakened. Polyethylene foam plastic is usually used as the inner lining material of packaging. Different products can be used in different forms, such as upper and lower padding, two-side padding, four-sided padding, appearance matching, etc. Different products should also use polyethylene foam plastic with different characteristics.
In agriculture, polyethylene foam plastic are also used. As a greenhouse for seedlings, vegetables, fruits, etc., it has the advantages of being strong, heat-insulating, and weather-resistant, and has a longer service life than non-foamed polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride films, but the ultraviolet transmittance is only 1/2. It can be used as the wall of the cold-proof shed, used for nighttime heat preservation and shading cultivation, etc.

(1) It almost does not absorb water and is almost impermeable to water vapor. It will not be damp when used in a humid environment for a long time, so the thermal conductivity can remain unchanged (EPS, PUR, PF, etc. cannot compare with it). It is a soft foam plastic with good flexibility.
(2) The compression performance is poor. There is compression creep when used under pressure.
(3) It is suitable for low-temperature pipes and air-conditioning ducts.
