Vacuum Forming

Thick sheet Vacuum Forming is a plastic processing technology. The main principle is to heat and soften the flat plastic hard sheet, then use vacuum adsorption on the mold surface and cool it down to form. This process is widely used in plastic packaging, lighting, advertising, decoration and other industries.

Application classification

Vacuum Forming packaging: a general term for plastic products produced by Vacuum Forming technology and encapsulated with corresponding equipment.

Vacuum Forming packaging products include: Vacuum Forming, tray, Vacuum Forming box, and synonyms include: vacuum cover, Vacuum Forming, etc.

Main advantages

The main advantages of Vacuum Forming packaging are saving raw and auxiliary materials, light weight, convenient transportation, good sealing performance, and meeting the requirements of environmentally friendly green packaging; it can package any special-shaped products, and no additional cushioning materials are required for packaging; the packaged products are transparent and visible, beautiful in appearance, easy to sell, and suitable for mechanized and automated packaging, which is convenient for modern management, saving manpower and improving efficiency.

Production equipment

Vacuum Forming packaging equipment mainly includes: Vacuum Forming forming machine, punching machine, sealing machine, high frequency machine, folding machine.

The packaging products formed by encapsulation can be divided into: card insertion, suction card, double bubble shell, half bubble shell, fold bubble shell, three-fold bubble shell, etc.

Three-fold bubble shell packaging

Three-fold bubble shell packaging is to fold the bubble shell into three sides (front, bottom, and back), forming an extra bottom edge so that the product can stand on a plane. Its characteristics are that it does not use high-frequency edge sealing technology, but makes buckles at certain positions of the bubble shell to connect the bubble shell, and staples can be added when necessary. In terms of material selection, PET hard sheets can be used to achieve the purpose of environmentally friendly materials, which is suitable for large-caliber product packaging.

Problems that should be noted: 1. Because there is no high-frequency machine edge sealing, the edge needs to be cut on the cutting table with high quality; 2. The tightness of the buckle position should be moderate.

[Requirements for materials for Vacuum Forming molding]:

1. Vacuum Forming molding can only produce products with relatively uniform wall thickness (generally slightly thinner at the chamfer), and cannot produce plastic products with a large difference in wall thickness

2. The wall thickness of Vacuum Forming molding is generally within the range of 1 to 2 mm or thinner (the most commonly used thickness of sheets for Vacuum Forming packaging of small packages is 0.15 to 0.25 mm)

3. The stretchability of Vacuum Forming molded products is subject to certain restrictions. The diameter-to-depth ratio of Vacuum Forming molded plastic containers is generally not more than 1, and in extreme cases it must not exceed 1.5

4. The dimensional accuracy of Vacuum Forming molding is poor, and its relative error is generally more than 1%.

Flocking inner tray

is a Vacuum Forming tray made of special materials. A layer of velvet material is glued to the surface of the ordinary plastic hard sheet, so that the surface of the tray has a velvety feel, which is used to improve the grade of the packaged products.

Antistatic tray

is a Vacuum Forming tray made of special materials. The surface resistance of the material is less than 10 to the 11th power ohm. Mainly used for Vacuum Forming trays for electronic and IT products.

Vacuum Forming mold

The mold used in Vacuum Forming molding production has the lowest cost of plaster mold, followed by electroplated copper mold, and the most expensive is aluminum mold. The mold is drilled with small holes for vacuum adsorption of heated hard sheets to form Vacuum Forming products.
