74 rare Indonesian parrots stuffed into plastic bottles for smuggling, 10 dead
Indonesian police have cracked a parrot smuggling case after finding 74 black-roofed parrots, each stuffed into a plastic bottle with small holes, on a boat. The birds were immobilized in the bottles, and 10 of them were found dead.
Black-roofed parrots are a protected species in Indonesia, and Indonesian police speculated that the parrots may have been destined for sale in illegal large bird markets in the country or smuggled out of the country.
