African journalists follow the progress of the summit and feel the charm of traditional intangible cultural heritage

The 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has attracted more than 3,000 Chinese and foreign journalists to register, a record high. Journalists from African countries attending the summit will not only follow the progress of the summit, but also perceive China through the summit and observe China's development.

The Hadley kite with exquisite materials and exquisite structure, the Jingtai blue vase with unique Beijing characteristics... In the intangible cultural Heritage interactive experience area of the FOCAC Summit Press Center, exquisite Chinese handicrafts show the unique charm of Oriental aesthetics.

The non-genetic bearers' on-site explanation and the journalists' trial experience made everyone feel the charm of traditional Chinese culture directly.

Salli Ibrahim Layal, a reporter from Djibouti's Nation newspaper, said that Chinese culture is colorful, wonderful and unique.

Salli Ibrahim Layal from Djibouti, who came to China for the first time, lamented China's progress, and the summit gave him a great opportunity to learn about China.

Sally Ibrahim Layal believes that China is making rapid progress especially in digitization and science and technology. As a journalist, he hopes to introduce what he has seen and learned here to the people of Djibouti, so that African countries can understand and learn from China's development model.

In the press center, in addition to experiencing the encounter between traditional intangible cultural heritage projects and "ancient China", some special "Chinese gifts" were also arranged at the scene. These cultural and creative products are all made from recycled resources. For example, this mobile phone bag is made from recycled apple peels.

Discarded plastic bottles become silk scarves printed with the Forbidden City collection, coffee grounds become flower POTS for daily use... With the theme of "zero waste", 60 environmentally friendly cultural and creative products from the Forbidden City highlight functionality and sustainability while preserving traditional Chinese culture. Reporters sighed at the "Chinese creativity" to understand the Chinese concept of green development behind it.

Nimbona Alfred, a journalist from Burundi's Nouveau Newspaper, said that during the summit, China and Africa will discuss many topics, covering all aspects of China-Africa cooperation, and there are many Chinese projects in Burundi. This time, we will not only cover the summit, but also have the opportunity to observe China's development. Everything here gives me a great surprise.

Qadar Awis Hassan, a reporter from Somalia's National News Agency, said that he is very much looking forward to covering the summit, because it is also the largest host diplomacy hosted by China in recent years. In addition, he is very interested in China's culture, China's development, especially its experience in infrastructure. African countries can learn from these experiences of China and achieve better development.
