the director of the Environmental Protection Bureau to swim in the river

Wenzhou - Jin Zengmin, chairman of Hangzhou Maoyuanchang Eyewear Co., Ltd. in Zhejiang province, said on his microblog on February 16 that a river in Wenzhou's Ruian Xianxian Street was so polluted by industry that he would offer the head of the environmental protection bureau 200,000 yuan if he dared to swim in the river for 20 minutes.

Jin Zengmin recalled that when he was a child, he often swam in the river with his friends, and at that time villagers still washed vegetables in the river.

"Now as soon as you enter Xianjian Street, you can smell a strong odor." Jin Zengmin said that because the river is close to the base of the rubber shoe factory, the sewage from the rubber shoe factory is discharged directly into the river, and there is a large amount of industrial plastic waste on the river surface, which has a great impact on the life of the village residents.

Bao Zhenming, director of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Ruian City in Wenzhou, said on Sunday that the river was polluted by household waste, not industrial waste. "Now the waste recycling plant in Wenzhou's Ruian city has been built and is expected to be put into use this year. While the sewage treatment plant is already under construction, we hope to establish a complete China's sewage collection system within three years." Bao said.
