Sumitomo DeMag's long-lasting, high-speed new medical injection molding machine will debut at K 2019
Sumitomo Demag Plastic Machinery Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as "Sumitomo Demag ") will present its latest IntElect S medical injection molding machine at K 2019(Booth 15D22).
Built for high speed and precision, this latest 180t all-electric injection molding machine is also proven to have the highest repeatability and cleanliness.
The machine is aimed directly at high volume manufacturers of medical plastic parts and is designed for ultra-narrow tolerance applications that require fast cycle times of 3 to 10s.
As an all-electric model, the IntElect S Series is cleaner, cooler, faster, quieter and more energy efficient.
The layout of the mold space ensures that there are no contaminants, particles and lubricants, which makes the IntElect S GMP compliant and therefore an ideal machine choice for medical cleanroom environment applications.
In addition to a clean environment, fast cycle times, and unmatched process stability, the IntElect S heralds a new era of molding sustainability, energy savings, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Peter Gladigau, Sumitomo DeMag Product Manager, confirmed: "We have performed extensive machine and component life durability tests on the IntElect S compared to equivalent all-electric injection moulding machines on the market, and these tests have confirmed that our enhancements to the high-performance drive significantly extend machine life and thus increase TCO."
" Even when the mode-locking spindle was tested under the most difficult conditions, after millions of cycles, there was no visible sign of wear. Increasing the capacity of the Intellect energy recovery system not only improves energy efficiency but also extends the service life of electrical components. Improved temperature control of the machine's spindles, motors and inverters all contribute to the safe operation of the machine, even for the highest performance applications." Peter explains.
With a dry cycle time of 1.2s, the Model S model is superior to the previous generation of IntElect machines in terms of mold motion as well as metering speed and ejection motion.
Peter adds: "The extended tie rod distance and larger die height mean that multi-cavity molds can be used in combination with small injection units, which is particularly advantageous for molding companies producing precision medical products."
To demonstrate the impressive performance of the new IntElect S, Sumitomo DeMag will operate a production unit at the K 2019 site where the pipet heads will be molded in a 64-cavity mold.
The high-speed production unit also includes a highly efficient automated system for taking out the molded product and placing it in the corresponding bracket.
