Disposable plastic products usually refer to a type of cheap, non-durable, and only-used-once items. Disposable items that specifically provide convenience include: disposable plastic bags, fast food boxes, paper cups, etc.
Disposable items refer to items that can only be used once and cannot be used repeatedly or multiple times, and are generally industrial products.
Plastic products made of high molecular compounds such as polystyrene, polypropylene, and polyvinyl chloride have the characteristics of low toxicity, high melting point, strong plasticity, and simple production, making them an excellent material for making cheap, disposable lunch boxes that can be used and thrown away at any time. However, while disposable plastic tableware brings us convenience, it also produces a variety of side effects that constitute direct pollution to the human body and secondary pollution to the environment: disposable foam tableware consumes a large amount of foaming agents, which are ozone depleting substances, during the production process, thus endangering the earth's protective umbrella - the ozone layer; since the Chinese government has begun to restrict the production of disposable foam tableware, there are many lunch boxes produced by illegal manufacturers on the market, so the product quality, especially hygiene, has become a problem; toxic and harmful substances (such as foaming agents) will dissolve at higher temperatures and be absorbed by food, thus causing trace pollution to the human body, and long-term deposition will damage health. If the harmful substances exceed the standard, the harm is even greater; the degradation cycle of polystyrene lunch boxes is extremely long, which can reach about 200 years under normal conditions. In other words, for a very long period of time, it will "go its own way" and keep its polymer form unchanged. Therefore, it not only destroys the environment, but also brings great harm to human survival.
On June 2, 2020, Greek Minister of Environment and Energy Hatzidakis said that Greece will stop using disposable plastic products from July 1, 2021. In response, the Greek authorities will introduce a number of incentives.
