Aluminum-plastic pipe is a new type of pipe made of aluminum pipe with longitudinal welding in the middle, polyethylene plastic in the inner and outer layers, and hot melt adhesive between the layers. Polyethylene is a non-toxic, odorless plastic with good impact resistance, corrosion resistance, and weather resistance. The aluminum alloy in the middle layer is welded longitudinally to give the pipe the compressive strength of metal. The impact resistance makes the pipe easy to bend without rebounding. The aluminum-plastic composite pipe has two major characteristics: the strong pressure resistance of metal pipes and the acid and alkali resistance and corrosion resistance of plastic pipes. It is a model of the new generation of pipes.
The interior of the aluminum-plastic composite pipe is smooth, non-corrosive, and scale-free, and the flow rate is 30% larger than that of metal pipes. The aluminum-plastic pipe is easy to bend, can be directly installed around beams and columns, can be buried in walls and concrete, and a simple metal detector can detect the installation location, so the pipe is very suitable for use in hot and cold water pipe systems in industrial and civil buildings.
Aluminum-plastic pipe is a more popular pipe on the market. Due to its light weight, durability and convenient construction, its bendability is more suitable for use in home decoration. Its main disadvantage is that when used as a hot water pipe, long-term thermal expansion and contraction will cause the pipe wall to be misaligned and cause leakage. The inner and outer layers of the aluminum-plastic pipe are made of special polyethylene materials, which are clean, non-toxic, smooth, and can be used for more than 50 years. The aluminum layer in the middle of the aluminum-plastic pipe can 100% isolate gas penetration, and make the pipe have the advantages of both metal and plastic pipes, while eliminating their respective disadvantages.
On November 19, 2020, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China issued the standard requirements for "Aluminum-Plastic Composite Pressure Pipe", which will be implemented on June 1, 2021.
According to the use, there are ordinary drinking water pipes, high temperature resistant pipes, and gas pipes. The characteristics and uses of each type of pipe are as follows:
¢Ù Aluminum-plastic composite pipe for ordinary drinking water: white L mark, scope of application: domestic water, condensate, oxygen, compressed air, and other chemical liquid pipelines.
¢Ú High temperature resistant aluminum-plastic composite pipe: red R mark, mainly used for hot water and heating pipeline systems with long-term working water temperature of 95¡æ.
¢Û Aluminum-plastic composite pipe for gas: yellow Q mark, mainly used for natural gas, liquefied gas, and coal gas pipeline systems.
¢Ü During pipeline construction, the corresponding technical regulations must be met.
Hot and cold water pipeline system
The interior of the aluminum-plastic composite pipe is smooth, non-corrosive, and scale-free, and the flow rate is 30% larger than that of metal pipes. It is easy to bend, can be directly installed around beams and columns, can be buried in walls and concrete, and a simple metal detector can detect the installation location, so the pipe is very suitable for use in hot and cold water pipeline systems in industrial and civil buildings.
Indoor gas pipeline system
The longitudinally welded aluminum tube is sandwiched between plastics, so that the all-purpose tube can withstand high working pressure, the gas (oxygen) permeability is zero, and the length of the tube can reduce joints and avoid leakage, so this kind of tube is safe and reliable for compressed air, gas, oxygen and other gas transmission lines.
Solar air conditioning piping system
Aluminum-plastic composite pipes are not easy to frost, have good thermal insulation, and improve the efficiency of solar energy and air conditioning systems.
The advantages of aluminum-plastic pipes can be summarized into the following three aspects:
1. Outstanding hygienic performance: The inner and outer layers of aluminum-plastic pipes are made of special polyethylene materials, which are clean and non-toxic. The most important thing is that the middle layer of the aluminum-plastic pipe is aluminum, which can not only isolate light, but also block oxygen. As we all know, the environment for the growth of microorganisms must have light and oxygen. The middle aluminum layer of the aluminum-plastic pipe prevents the growth of microorganisms and algae, which is beyond the reach of all-plastic pipes. The plastic pipe itself not only adds a large amount of antioxidants to prevent material degradation, but also extracts antioxidants into the water retained in the pipe, which is easy to cause water pollution. In addition, because there is no light-proof and oxygen-blocking material in the plastic pipe, it is very easy to breed microorganisms and cause secondary pollution of the water quality.
2. Excellent high and low temperature resistance: The long-term use temperature is 95 degrees (50 years, IMPa), the maximum use temperature is 110 degrees, and the thermal expansion coefficient of the aluminum-plastic pipe is small. It is equivalent to the thermal expansion coefficient of aluminum, which is only one-sixth of that of the plastic pipe. When the temperature changes, the deformation is small, and the aluminum-plastic pipe is a flexible coil. The pipe itself can absorb a certain amount of deformation and will not cause thermal expansion and deformation of the pipeline system. The high and low temperature resistance of the plastic pipe is relatively poor. The long-term use temperature of PPR is only 70 degrees (50 years, IMPa) and the maximum use temperature is 95 degrees. At the same time, the PPR pipeline has a large expansion coefficient. When the external water temperature (hot and cold water) changes, there is a large original deformation. Since the PPR pipe is a rigid straight pipe, it cannot absorb the deformation itself, so it is easy to cause the system to bend and deform or even leak.
3. Long service life: The PE plastic used in aluminum-plastic composite pipes has a relatively stable molecular chain structure (-CH2-CH2-) among plastics. Since the aluminum layer in the middle of the aluminum-plastic pipe isolates the inner and outer layers, the outer plastic allows the addition of stabilizers that are sufficient to resist light and oxygen aging without affecting the hygiene of the inner layer in contact with water, thereby enhancing its anti-aging performance.
So how to identify the quality of aluminum-plastic composite pipes? There are several methods:
Impact method: Randomly select a section of aluminum-plastic composite pipe and hit it with a relatively hard object. The pipe surface will bend. If it is deformed to the point of breaking, it is of poor quality; if the deformed surface cannot be restored, it is of general quality; if it can be restored to its original shape immediately after deformation, it is a high-quality aluminum-plastic pipe.
Visual inspection method: The color/printing of high-quality aluminum-plastic pipes is uniform, without color difference, and the roundness is less than 0.1; the interface of the middle aluminum layer is tight and there is no rough mark; the inner and outer surfaces are bright/smooth, and there should be no obvious scratches/depressions/bubbles/dead materials/confluence lines
Touch method: Take a section of aluminum-plastic pipe and cut it vertically, put your finger into the pipe, the mouth of the high-quality pipe is smooth, there is no feeling of grain; the mouth of the pipe has no burrs.
Comparison method:
1. Raw material comparison. The PE materials of high-quality aluminum-plastic composite pipes in the Chinese market are all from foreign countries, such as the United States and South Korea. If the raw materials come from recycled materials, the quality cannot be guaranteed.
2. Physical comparison. Take different brands of aluminum-plastic pipes and compare them one by one from the above aspects, so as to achieve the best selection.
People may not be unfamiliar with the three words aluminum-plastic pipe, but to truly understand it, we must start from its origin. The full name of the aluminum-plastic pipe should be aluminum-plastic composite pipe. Its invention originated in the UK. In the 1970s, British expert Dr. Lzhak Barnoach proposed an idea to combine high-density PE (plastic) with aluminum alloy through high-temperature and high-pressure molding like making five-ply plates through PE hot-melt additives, and use physical and chemical composites to compound into aluminum-plastic composite pipes. After years of improvement by experts from Europe and the United States, great progress has been made in production technology and quality. By the end of the 1980s, aluminum-plastic composite pipes had been widely promoted and used in developed countries. The utilization rate of water supply pipes in Japan reached 87%, and the utilization rate of gas pipelines in the United States and Denmark was as high as 90%.
Since aluminum-plastic composite pipes are a new type of pipeline material that conforms to China's industrial policies and the development direction of high-tech products, the Ministry of Construction proposed the idea and plan of developing and selling aluminum-plastic composite pipes in 1992; in 1995, it officially issued a document to promote aluminum-plastic composite pipes to replace metal pipes, which has a huge potential market in China. The production technology of aluminum-plastic composite pipes is the most advanced in Germany, especially the German Unik Company has the most advanced patented technology. China does not have patented technology for aluminum-plastic composite pipes. Many brands have introduced German patented technology in production technology. The statement that "it originated from Germany, and aluminum-plastic composite pipes originated from China" is absolutely incorrect.
How to choose an authentic aluminum-plastic composite pipe? First of all, you need to understand its basic structure and advantages. The aluminum-plastic composite pipe has five layers, the inner and outer layers are polyethylene, the middle layer is an aluminum thin layer, and there is a layer of adhesive between the two materials. The five layers are tightly combined into one. Its superior performance is: stable chemical properties, corrosion resistance, non-toxic and pollution-free, smooth and flat surface and inner wall, no scaling, light weight, free bending, good toughness, and unique environmental protection and energy-saving advantages. There are many brands of aluminum-plastic composite pipes in China, and the selection of raw materials, chemical additives, production technology and production equipment is uneven. Some brands use low-quality, low-priced materials with poor performance in the selection of raw materials and adhesives, and their production technology is backward, and they cannot achieve five-layer co-extrusion. The aluminum-plastic composite pipes produced in this way are naturally far lower than those of excellent brands in terms of quality, price and installation and use.
Product quality must be good, and there must be corresponding and perfect supporting services. Brands that combine excellent product quality and complete service measures are the first choice for consumers. Every penny spent by consumers can reflect its value, which is not only reflected in product quality, but also in after-sales service. Low-quality and low-priced products cannot be guaranteed in quality, let alone service. Only by establishing a correct consumer concept can we choose truly satisfactory aluminum-plastic composite pipes so that consumers can have a perfect home.
Aluminum-plastic composite pipes are "selected" as the preferred cold and hot water supply pipes and ideal heating pipes with incomparable advantages. Compared with other pipes, aluminum-plastic composite pipes have been quite mature in China, with perfect product standards and application specifications, and are widely accepted by the market. The rapid development trend of aluminum-plastic composite pipes abroad also confirms this fact: According to the statistics of the German KWD Plastics Information Center, in Europe, aluminum-plastic pipes are increasing at a rate of more than 20% per year. I believe that in China, aluminum-plastic composite pipes will have a broader market space.
Aluminum-plastic pipes are widely used in ordinary drinking water pipes, high temperature resistant pipes, gas pipes, condensed water, oxygen, compressed air, other chemical liquid pipelines, natural gas, liquefied gas, and coal gas pipelines.
PB pipes: PB pipes were invented by Germans and have been mass-produced in Europe for nearly 30 years since 1971. However, after 35 years of practical use, it was found that pure plastic pipes had cracks, deformation and folding in the curved parts, and would age, resulting in water leakage or water not being able to flow.
Aluminum-plastic pipes: Due to the cracking, deformation and folding of pure plastic pipes, the inventors thought of adding a layer of aluminum alloy to the outer layer of the plastic pipe. The main purpose was to take advantage of the excellent ductility of the aluminum alloy. Then, in order to protect the aluminum alloy, a PE layer was added to the outer layer. There is a bonding layer between PE and the aluminum alloy, which becomes the five-layer aluminum-plastic composite pipe seen on the market. Aluminum-plastic pipes eliminate the shortcomings of galvanized iron pipes (will rust) and pure plastic pipes (will be oxygen permeable and bend and clog), and combine the advantages of both. It can be seen that aluminum-plastic pipes are products that replace various types of pipes.
