The extrusion blow molding process is a process in which a preform is extruded through a ring-shaped die of an extruder, and then the preform is moved into a blow molding mold to expand into a hollow product. In actual production, for the forming of different types of products, the extrusion-blow molding process has different implementation methods such as single-layer direct preform protection-blow molding, multi-layer co-extrusion preform-blow molding extrusion-accumulation-pressing preform-blowing and extrusion-stretching-blowing. The preform-stretching-blow molding process is complicated and is rarely used in production.
When the preform is a single material preform obtained by feeding and extruding from an extruder, its blow molding is referred to as extrusion blow molding. When the preform is a multi-layer composite tube formed by multiple extruders that extrude different plastic materials through the same head, its blow molding method is called multi-layer co-extrusion preform-blow molding, and the product obtained is a multi-layer blow-molded hollow product. When manufacturing large hollow products, if direct extrusion blow molding technology is used, the extruder extrusion capacity is limited, and the extrusion forming tube ring takes a long time, which causes the tube to fall due to its own weight. The wall thickness of the upper part of the tube (close to the die) is significantly thinned, and the wall thickness of the lower part is significantly increased. At the same time, the upper and lower parts of the tube have different temperatures due to the large difference in the residence time in the air.
