Plastic floor panels

  • Apr 11, 2025

Plastic floor boards are made of thermoplastic plastics such as PE\PP, plus some additives to improve performance, through injection molding, blow molding and other processes.

Introduction to floor boards

Floor boards are also called pallets, pallets, and pallets. They are generally divided into four categories: wood, plastic, paper and steel. Because plastic floor boards have superior performance, are easy to use, have a high degree of automation in processing equipment, have a large output, the country's control over deforestation, rising wood costs, and improved plastic mechanical properties have reduced the cost of plastic floor boards, which has caused plastic floor boards to become the mainstream of industrial floor boards. Because plastic floor boards can be easily recycled, they are also more environmentally friendly than wood and iron.

With the continuous improvement of production conditions, storage conditions, process control, and quality management requirements, plastic floor boards began to appear and quickly occupied a place due to the insurmountable limitations of wooden floor boards in terms of hygiene and standardized production. At present, they have been widely used in machinery, electronics, food, medicine, clothing and other industries. Compared with wooden floor boards, plastic floor boards have good integrity, are hygienic and clean, and are easy to rinse and disinfect. They are lightweight, thorn-free, acid-resistant, and mildew-proof during use. Their service life is 5-7 times that of wooden floor boards. In addition, plastic floor boards meet environmental protection requirements, and waste tray materials can be recycled. Although the price of plastic floor boards is relatively high, the cost of use is lower than that of wooden floor boards.

Classification of floor boards

Classification by appearance

Double-sided type: This type of plastic floor board is suitable for use on both sides, and is widely used in stacking and shelf use. Single-sided type: It can be divided into shelf type, standard type, and ordinary type. Different single-sided floor boards are selected according to different usage methods.

Flat type: The surface is flat and most of the surface is flat. Some flat floor boards have a few mesh holes on the surface.

Grid type: The surface is flat and most of the surface is grid-shaped.

Classification by structure

Nine-leg plastic floor board: Nine legs are distributed on the back of the floor board. The middle of the four sides and the four corners of the square floor board each have four legs. There is a leg in the middle of the floor board, with a total of nine legs. Generally, there are three legs in parallel and three groups of legs in parallel.

Chuan-shaped plastic floor board: Based on the back shape of the nine-leg plastic floor board, the back of the three groups of legs are distributed in parallel.

Tian-shaped plastic pallet: Based on the back shape of the nine-leg plastic floor board, the back of the three horizontal groups of legs and the three vertical groups of legs are distributed in parallel.

Features of floor panels

Plastic floor panels have the following features:

1. Can be plugged in on all four sides, easy to operate;

2. Suitable for stacking in warehouses and for use on all kinds of shelves;

3. Suitable for transportation by all kinds of trucks, convenient for containerized and unitized transportation of materials;

4. Convenient for operation of forklifts, hydraulic floor trucks and other handling tools;

5. With anti-slip rubber, ensure that materials will not slip during handling and transportation;

6. Long service life and recyclable;

7. Plastic floor panels are safe, hygienic, insect-proof and moth-proof, and do not require repair.

As a "moving piece of land", with the development of world industry and transportation, and the economic recovery, plastic floor panels will make an increasingly greater contribution to the development of the world

Use of floor panels

Load-bearing mass of floor panels

The load-bearing mass of each floor panel should be less than or equal to 2 tons. In order to ensure safety during transportation, the center of gravity height of the goods carried should not exceed two-thirds of the width of the floor panel.

Stacking method of goods on the floor panel

Based on the type of goods, the mass of the goods carried by the floor panel and the size of the floor panel, reasonably determine the stacking method of the goods on the floor panel. The load-bearing surface area utilization rate of the floor panel should generally not be less than 80%. The following requirements apply to the stacking of goods on the platform:

1. Hard rectangular goods such as wooden, paper and metal containers are stacked in single or multiple layers, and are wrapped in stretch or shrink film;

2. Paper or fiber goods are stacked in single or multiple layers, and are cross-sealed with strapping tape.

3. Cylindrical goods such as sealed metal containers are stacked in single or multiple layers, and wooden cargo covers are reinforced.

4. Paper products and textile goods that require moisture-proof and waterproof protection are stacked in single or multiple layers, and corner supports, cargo cover partitions and other reinforcement structures are added for goods wrapped in stretch or shrink film;

5. Fragile goods are stacked in one or multiple layers, and wooden support partition structures are added

6. Cylindrical containers or goods such as metal bottles are stacked in single layers vertically, and cargo frames and slats are added for reinforcement;

7. Bags are stacked in multiple layers in a staggered and compacted manner.

Precautions

Precautions for the use of floor panels and forklifts

1. When hydraulic trucks and forklifts are using floor panels, the distance between the fork teeth should be as wide as possible to the outer edge of the fork entry of the floor panel, and the fork entry depth should be greater than 2/3 of the depth of the entire floor panel.

2. When hydraulic trucks and forklifts are using floor panels, they should maintain a uniform speed of advance and retreat and up and down to avoid sudden braking and turning that may cause damage to the floor panel and collapse of goods.

3. When placing shelves on the floor panel, the floor panel should be placed stably on the shelf beam, and the length of the floor panel should be greater than the outer diameter of the shelf beam by more than 50mm.

Precautions for using plastic floor panels

1. Single-sided plastic floor panels can only be used on one side. The surface has two types: grid and flat, and the bottom has Sichuan, Tian, and nine-foot shapes. 2. Double-sided plastic floor panels refer to floor panels with the same structure on both sides, with two surfaces: grid-shaped and flat-plate-shaped, and both sides can be used interchangeably. Whether to choose a single-sided floor panel or a double-sided floor panel should be determined according to the corresponding storage, loading and unloading equipment and status (such as warehouse type, shelf type, stacking or placement status, etc.).

3. Dynamic load refers to the maximum weight that the floor panel can bear during movement when using a motorized forklift or a manual hydraulic floor panel transporter (bending within 1.5% is normal).

4. Static load refers to the maximum weight that the bottom plastic floor panel can bear in stacking.

5. Shelf load refers to the maximum weight that the plastic floor panel loaded with goods can bear when placed on the shelf (bending within 1% is normal). Generally, the standard series of floor panels can bear 0.4T~0.6T when the shelf is loaded, and the heavy-load series of floor panels can bear 0.7T~1T.

Professional Industry Terminology

Static load: refers to the maximum load that the floor plate can bear when it is placed on a horizontal and rigid plane and the goods are evenly spread on the floor plate.

Dynamic load: refers to the maximum load weight that the floor plate can bear when the goods are evenly spread on the floor plate during dynamic operation using forklifts and other handling equipment.

Shelf load: refers to the maximum load weight that the floor plate can bear when the goods are evenly spread on the floor plate when the floor plate is suspended on a beam shelf or other similar material racks.

Purpose of floor plates

The material floor plate is used for forklift transportation and as a pallet, which plays an important role in improving the efficiency of mechanized shipping and ensuring the quality of warehouse storage, especially for the storage and transportation of soft cartons, which can greatly reduce the breakage rate. It is the most inconspicuous but ubiquitous logistics equipment in the logistics industry, and is the main means to transform static goods into dynamic goods. Although it is only one meter square, it can "move the entire earth", so it is also called "moving ground" and "moving cargo platform".
