Atactic polypropylene, also known as PP, is a thermoplastic resin. According to the different molecular structures, there are three types of atactic polypropylene, isotactic polypropylene and syndiotactic polypropylene.
Industrially produced atactic polypropylene is a colorless, odorless and tasteless solid. The relative density is 0.90-0.91. It has high heat resistance and the operating temperature range is 30-140буC. It has good toughness and chemical corrosion resistance. The disadvantage is that it has poor low-temperature impact resistance and is more prone to aging. It is a general-purpose plastic.
It is mainly used to manufacture plastic products, such as household appliances, household appliance parts, packaging films, strapping materials, sterilizable medical utensils, etc. It can also be used to make synthetic fibers (polypropylene). It is made by polymerization of propylene.
