Polyethylene pipe

The full name of high molecular weight polyethylene pipe is ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) pipe. It is a new type of plastic pipe that is wear-resistant, impact-resistant, corrosion-resistant, absorbs impact energy, does not scale, does not absorb water, and has a very small self-lubricating friction coefficient.

Introduction

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene pipe was listed as a national key promotion plan for scientific and technological achievements by the Ministry of Science and Technology's National Science and Technology Document (2000) No. 056 in 2001. It belongs to new materials and new products in the chemical industry.

Performance

1. High wear resistance

It greatly improves the service life of the pipeline. And it can improve the transportation efficiency by about 20% compared with steel pipes.

2. Corrosion resistance

No anti-corrosion paint is required during construction.

3. Anti-aging

Due to its stable properties, it has strong weather resistance and good anti-aging properties. It can be buried on the ground or underground and will not age for 50 years.

4. Anti-adhesion

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has self-lubricating and non-adhesive properties, and a small friction coefficient, so the flow resistance is very small, and its inner diameter design can be reduced by about 15% compared with steel pipes.

5. High impact resistance

Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene has the highest impact resistance and impact energy absorption among plastics. It is difficult to crack whether it is a strong external impact or an internal pressure fluctuation. Its impact strength is 10 times that of nylon 66, 20 times that of polyvinyl chloride, and 4 times that of polyethylene. Especially in low temperature environments, its impact strength reaches the highest value. Its flexibility can provide extremely safe and reliable protection for the conveying system. Due to its high impact energy absorption value, it is particularly suitable for conveying flake and granular materials, reducing breakage and reducing conveying noise.

6. Hygienic and non-toxic

It can replace stainless steel pipes for conveying materials in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

7. Chemical stability

It can convey various corrosive media and organic matter.

8. High internal pressure resistance

It can transport various materials at high pressure.

9. Lightweight

UHMWPE pipes are one eighth of the weight of carbon steel and stainless steel, which brings great convenience to loading, unloading, transportation, installation and use.

10. Economic efficiency

UHMWPE pipes are easy to install. They adopt flange or electric heat melting welding connection process, which is safe, reliable, fast and simple. No anti-corrosion measures are required. The installation is labor-saving and labor-saving, which greatly reduces the installation cost. In addition, the comprehensive performance comparison shows that the economic benefit is more than 6 times that of steel pipes.

Connection and installation

1. Flange connection

Specially treat the ultra-high pipes and connect them together with flanges.

Engineering Uses

Slurry Transportation

Using the advantages of abrasion resistance, impact resistance, low temperature resistance, self-lubrication, good environmental stress cracking resistance, high internal pressure resistance, and lightness, it can be used for fluid transportation in various industries, such as: transportation of various corrosive media in the chemical industry; transportation of crude oil and refined oil in the petroleum industry; pipelines and seawater utilization for ships and ports in coastal areas (where there is a large amount of halogen-containing air and seawater that seriously corrodes steel pipes); water supply and drainage for municipal engineering.

UHMW-PE pipes have excellent impact resistance, corrosion resistance, environmental stress cracking resistance, rapid cracking resistance, good flexibility, excellent low temperature resistance, and can resist freezing damage.
