Blow molding is a method of forming thermoplastics. It is one of the methods for processing and forming thermoplastics. According to the operation process, it is divided into extrusion blow molding, injection blow molding, stretch blow molding and multilayer blow molding. Extrusion blow molding: It uses an extruder to extrude a tubular parison, puts it into the mold while hot, and blows it into compressed air to make it reach the shape of the mold cavity. After cooling and finalizing, the product is obtained. The advantages are: it is suitable for a variety of plastics, can produce large products, has high production efficiency, has a relatively uniform parison temperature and less equipment investment. Therefore, extrusion blow molding has a great advantage in the current production of hollow products.
Injection blow molding is to use an injection machine to inject molten plastic into the injection mold to form a tube blank. After the mold is opened, the tube blank remains on the core mold, and the blow mold is closed while hot. Compressed air is blown into the parison to make it expand to the shape of the mold cavity, and the product is obtained by cooling and demolding. The advantages are: the wall thickness of the product is uniform, the weight tolerance is small, and the post-processing amount and waste skin and waste edges are small. However, two molds (injection mold and blow mold) must be used, and the injection mold must be able to withstand high pressure, which increases production investment and a longer production cycle. Therefore, it is only suitable for producing large batches of small and exquisite products. At present, these two processes are the most widely used, mainly for the manufacture of hollow plastics and plastic films.
