Polypropylene is made by grafting maleic anhydride through reaction extrusion. Strong polar side groups are introduced into the non-polar main chain of the molecule. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene can become a bridge to enhance the adhesion and compatibility between polar and non-polar materials.
Adding maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene in the production of filled polypropylene can greatly improve the affinity between filler and polypropylene and the dispersion of filler. Therefore, it can effectively enhance the dispersion of filler in polypropylene, thereby improving the tensile and impact strength of filled polypropylene.
Typical applications of maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene include:
¡ôCoupling agent between inorganic reinforcing materials (glass fiber) and filling materials (calcium carbonate, talcum powder, etc.) and polypropylene
Compatibilizer for polypropylene/nylon alloy
Improve the adhesion between polypropylene and polar materials (metal, nylon, etc.).
