PVC is a non-toxic, odorless white powder. It has high chemical stability and good plasticity. Except for a few organic solvents, it can withstand any concentration of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid below 90%, nitric acid 50-60% and caustic soda below 20% at room temperature, and is also quite stable to salts; PVC has poor thermal stability and light resistance, and it will begin to decompose and release hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas above 140¡ãC, causing PVC to change color.

Based on the above characteristics, PVC is mainly used in the production of profiles, special-shaped materials, pipes, rods, plates, sheets, cable sheaths, hard or soft tubes, blood transfusion equipment and films.
Specific gravity: 1.45-1.5 g/cm3, molding shrinkage: 0.6-1.5%, molding temperature: 160-190¡æ.
Features: excellent mechanical and electrical properties, strong acid and alkali resistance, good chemical stability. At the same time, its material properties also include high strength, high rigidity and high hardness, the working temperature range is from minus 15 degrees to 60 degrees, and it can be bonded and welded. But the softening point is low. It is suitable for making thin plates, wire and cable insulation layers, seals, etc.
1. Amorphous material, low moisture absorption, poor fluidity. In order to improve fluidity and prevent bubbles, the plastic can be dried in advance. The mold gating system should be short and thick, the gate section should be large, and there should be no dead corners. The mold must be cooled and the surface should be chrome-plated.
2. Due to its corrosive and fluid characteristics, it is best to use special equipment and molds. All products must be added with different types and quantities of additives as needed.
3. It is very easy to decompose. It is more likely to decompose when in contact with steel and copper at a temperature of 200 degrees. Corrosive and irritating gases escape during decomposition. The molding temperature range is small.
4. When using a screw injection machine nozzle, the aperture should be large to prevent dead corners from stagnation. It is best not to have inserts. If there are inserts, they should be preheated.
The melting temperature of PVC is a very important process parameter during processing. If this parameter is improper, it will lead to material decomposition problems. The flow characteristics of PVC are quite poor and its process range is very narrow. In particular, high molecular weight PVC materials are more difficult to process (this material usually needs to add lubricants to improve the flow characteristics), so low molecular weight PVC materials are usually used. The shrinkage rate of PVC is quite low, generally 0.2~0.6%.
Strong corrosion resistance: Most suitable for anti-corrosion equipment. Easy to process, cut, weld and bend. High strength, high rigidity and high hardness; good electrical insulation; good chemical stability; self-extinguishing; low water absorption; easy to bond, easy to paint, and low price.
There are two main types of PVC rods in China: domestic and imported. Domestic PVC rods occupy the vast majority of the market. Among them, domestic PVC rods are divided into grade A and grade B.
Grade A PVC rods are made of pure PVC resin, with good rigidity, hardness and corrosion resistance.
Grade B PVC rods are made of recycled PVC materials, which are easy to break, poor in corrosion resistance and have impurities. But the price is cheap.
