It is a newly developed variety of polypropylene. In its three-dimensional structure, the methyl side chains are arranged alternately and regularly on both sides of the main chain. It is a crystalline homopolymer. Its physical and chemical properties are similar to those of isotactic polypropylene. Its impact strength is twice that of isotactic polypropylene, but its rigidity and hardness are only half of the latter. It can be blown, extruded into films and sheets, and can also be injection molded. It is widely used. It is made by catalyzing the polymerization of propylene with metallocene catalysts.
