Atactic polypropylene (APP) is a by-product of the production of polypropylene (isotactic polypropylene) and is a viscous substance. The average molecular weight is 3000-10000. Sometimes it can be as high as tens of thousands.

It is an amorphous, slightly sticky white waxy solid at room temperature and begins to decompose at 200буC. It is soluble in organic solvents such as alkanes, aromatics and esters, and insoluble in ethanol, acetone and water. Due to its small molecular weight, irregular structure and low cohesion, its mechanical properties and heat resistance are poor.
(1) Used in the production of APP (plastomer) modified asphalt and modified asphalt waterproof membranes. Its characteristic is that the asphalt products modified with it have excellent high temperature resistance. The products modified with it have a wide range of applications and a high utilization rate. It changes the anti-ductility of the finished product at high temperature and the cracking at low temperature, and improves the flexibility, toughness and cohesion of the asphalt itself.
(2) Used for APP filling masterbatch: The APP filling masterbatch made by mixing a certain amount of calcium carbonate into random polypropylene can play a good role in the processing of polypropylene, polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride. The addition amount can generally reach about 20%. It improves the plasticity, toughness and elasticity of the filled plastic and reduces the production cost. Polypropylene with APP filling masterbatch as filler can be used to produce strapping tape, tear film, flat wire, woven bags, turnover boxes, hollow containers, etc.
(3) Used in the production of hot melt adhesives, modified coatings, rubber and plastics, sealing materials, paper packaging and electronic insulation materials, etc.
