History

The wire and cable industry is an important supporting industry for China's economic construction. It is widely used in various fields of the national economy, accounting for 1/4 of China's electrical industry and the second largest industry in the machinery industry after the automobile industry. The assessment of wire quality is mainly carried out by professional inspection agencies. The main technical indicators in the report are as follows:

1. Conductor DC resistance. Directly reflects the current carrying capacity of the wire, which is usually referred to as how much load it can carry. This indicator is related to the conductor material and the conductor cross-sectional area (wire specification), that is, the wire diameter.

2. Finished product withstand voltage test. The main test is whether the outer insulation of the wire has leakage. This indicator is related to the insulation material and manufacturing process.

3. Insulation (sheath) thickness and mechanical properties and other items. Mainly test the service life of the wire and the use environment. If the insulation thickness is too thin or eccentric, it is easy to break at the thin position during installation or use, resulting in leakage. Wires using inferior insulation materials have a short service life.

Purchase

1. Give priority to products from regular manufacturers and merchants. Wires packaged in reels should have a certificate of conformity, and the wire body should be printed with the factory name or trademark, voltage, 3C logo, etc. Counterfeit and shoddy wires from manufacturers are often "three-no" products, but there are also ambiguous origin marks on them, such as Made in China, Made in a province or city in China, etc., which is actually equivalent to not marking the origin.

2. The conductor materials used in cloth wires are mainly copper and aluminum. When purchasing, you should first choose the corresponding specifications according to the load used. For example, lighting circuits use 1.5 square millimeters of copper wire or 2.5 square millimeters of aluminum wire, air conditioners, microwave ovens, ovens, etc. use 2.5 square millimeters of copper wire or 4 square millimeters of aluminum wire. Choosing wires of appropriate specifications can avoid short circuits and fires caused by insufficient current carrying capacity of small-sized wires; secondly, you should pay attention to the quality of the conductor when purchasing. Qualified copper core wires should use purple-red, shiny, soft-touch copper materials, while fake copper core wires have purple-black, yellowish or white copper cores, many impurities, poor mechanical strength, poor toughness, and will break with a little force. Moreover, if it is a multi-strand copper wire, there is often a phenomenon of broken wires, and the service life is short.

3. The outer skin of the cloth wire is made of polyvinyl chloride insulation material. Qualified wire insulation should have a smooth appearance and clear surface printing. Observe from the wire head that the insulation should be uniform and not eccentric. Some fake wires seem to have thick insulation layers, but in fact most of them are made of recycled plastics. Over time, the insulation layer will age and leak electricity.

4. Good quality wires are generally within the specified weight range. In terms of price, since the production cost of counterfeit and shoddy wires is low, vendors often sell them at low prices under the guise of cheap and good quality, which deceives people.
